When it comes to Bonfire Night in Carlisle, the city always makes an effort. It’s becoming a bit of a tradition for Tom’s parents to come up and watch the show with us and this year was their second visit.
The theme was the history of Carlisle so it was the castle that we watched burn. (A little macabre but it looked great!). The compairs were Val Armstrong from BBC Radio Cumbria who gave Tom and his family a shout out and Jonathan Higgins from Carlisle Leisure.
As always it was a little drizzly but that didn’t seem to put anyone off. I love the fact it feels like everyone in town is getting together. When you walk out the door and head to the park the pavements are full of people heading in the same direction.
The show didn’t disappoint and the park was packed. Who doesn’t love an excuse to pile on the layers, pull on the wellies, watch a show then go home and order a takeaway?
