“Do more of what you love.” Since spotting this quote at the start of the year I’ve been trying my best to do more of the things I enjoy the most. It’s all too easy to get stuck in your ways and forget to spend any time on yourself.
One of my favourite things to do is see live music. Last year I didn’t go to a single gig which is crazy for someone who used to go to at least six a year. When I saw that one of my favourite bands was playing in Newcastle with Less Than Jake and Zebrahead I knew I had to go. I had seen Reel Big Fish six or seven times before and I knew there was only one person who would want to join me, my best friend who had gone to so many of those gigs with me.

We decided to stay at the Euro Hostel which is cheap, clean and within easy walking distance of the station and the 02 Academy. For dinner we opted for a quick meal at Pizza Express before heading to a pub which happened to be selling McWilliams wine.
The gig itself was fantastic, Reel Big Fish were amazing as usual and I had lost my voice within the first ten minutes of Zebrahead’s set. (Note to self: You are not a rapper, don’t try that again).
The next day we headed to Stateside Diner for breakfast. Pancakes with maple syrup and a veggie burrito were the order of the day and I loved the atmosphere with the jukebox and chirpy waitress. For what we had the price was great and the meal set us up for a few hours of shopping in quirky vintage shops before we headed to a lovely pub (Pleased To Meet You) which still had a winter wonderland outside with heated log cabins and fur trees outside.
