Windermere is one of the most beautiful places in Cumbria and in the last 7 years I’ve only been once. This summer I’m determined to make the most of living in such a beautiful county and visit some of our tourist hotspots.
Full of quirky shops, nice restaurants and lots of boats Bowness on Windermere is much easier to get to from Carlisle than I thought. It’s no secret that I love boats. Give me a choice and I’ll be straight on the nearest one so this weekend we opted for a cruise with Windermere Lake Cruises which took us around the islands. As we arrived later in the afternoon we shared the boat with just one other group, grabbed a glass of wine and enjoyed being on the water.
After arriving back on dry land we headed to The Angel Inn for dinner. It was still sunny and warm so we sat in their beautiful green garden while we ate. Tom had a duck leg salad with a duck egg on top and I opted for the chicken burger which was delicious! I would definitely eat there again and the hotel itself looked like a lovely place to stay.
At the end of the day I didn’t want to head back to the city but we’re already planning our next trip when we’ll take the boat over the lake to explore Ambleside.
